Information about Tekemia Dorsey, her life's focus, and her accomplishments.

Life before Christ and how I came to know Christ is best described from the titles of two hit TV shows Lost and Survivor (Attempting to Conquer Spiritual Warfare)!

Life since Christ has been indescribable and surreal. Being a Christian to me means being honest, ethical, fair, humble, and real at often as possible. My favorite scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6.

It says Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him and he will make your path straight. There continues to be power in words and actions.

Life's Focus

I continue to devote my time and energy to youth and young adults by presenting workshops on topics such as conflict resolution, career assessment, portfolio development, financial planning and budgeting, stress management, organizational skills, multiple intelligences, time management, and stress reduction for organizations in and around Baltimore, Maryland.

My family and I adopt families for Christmas and local homeless person. We feed the homeless a hot meal at least once a week near our home. This Christmas 2006, we are adopting five families that have been nominated by colleagues and friends in Baltimore City, Maryland.

We have turned this event into a small community activity as we have received donations from persons and businesses from around the country.

MYPOT [Me, You, and the Power of Three]

The legacy I began with my children started six years ago with just my son and me. As my family grew, the efforts grew as well, to include my oldest daughter, my son, and I. Finally, when the youngest daughter was born this year, I adopted the acronym MYPOT [me, you, and the power of three].

I began this activity with my son and now all three children because of the blessings that we continue to receive.

I want my children to understand that it is our duty in life to give back and to help others as GOD and others have done for us over the years.

My goal is to leave a legacy with them that will last a lifetime, long after I am gone.

I am a member of the National Dean's List and Who's Who among American Women. I am the one of the recipients of the Hometown Hero Award from Elon College.

As an educator in the public school system, I have initiated several school wide and countywide programs such as the Professional Day Mock Interview Programs, the Multicultural Career Fair, the Harford County Equity Leadership Program, and the Peer Mentoring Program.

I continued to demonstrate commitment to youth by establishing the first College Bound Club in the county as well as enhancing the school's semi-annual Scholastic Awards Breakfast.

In my spare times [smiles], I am a three-time marathon runner, completing the NYC marathon, the Marine Corps marathon, and the San Diego Rock n Roll marathon, I am a faithful and avid runner participating in local 5K, 10K, and 15K races when I can.
